AFC Fylde 3-4 Yeovil Town

A pulsating seven-goal encounter at Mill Farm saw Yeovil Town snatch a dramatic 4-3 victory against AFC Fylde, recovering from a two-goal deficit to claim all three points.

The Coasters started brightly and took an early lead in the 3rd minute. Nick Haughton finished clinically to give Fylde the advantage. They continued to control the first half and doubled their lead in the 34th minute, Haughton again finding the net with a composed finish after good work from Ethan Mitchell.

The second half, however, saw a remarkable turnaround. Yeovil manager Mark Cooper’s half-time substitutions of Samuel Pearson and Jordan Young proved inspired, injecting fresh impetus into the Glovers’ attack. The change paid immediate dividends as Pearson pulled a goal back in the 66th minute, converting an Aaron Jarvis assist. Just three minutes later, the pair combined again, this time with Pearson turning provider for Jarvis to level the scores at 2-2.

The momentum had firmly swung in Yeovil’s favour, and they took the lead in the 78th minute. Substitute Sonny Blu Lo-Everton, having only just entered the field, made an instant impact, firing home from a Frank Nouble assist. Despite the swift turnaround, Fylde refused to be beaten. Substitute Tyler Roberts, introduced moments earlier, levelled the scores at 3-3 in the 84th minute, assisted by fellow substitute Taelor O’Kane.

Just as a draw seemed the likely outcome, Yeovil landed a decisive blow. In the 87th minute, Dominic Bernard, who had been booked in the first half, rose highest to meet a Pearson corner and head home the winner, sparking jubilant celebrations amongst the travelling supporters.

The victory lifts Yeovil to 6th in the National League table with 12 points from 7 games, while Fylde remain in 20th position with 5 points from 6 matches. This thrilling encounter, the first league meeting between the sides in three seasons, will undoubtedly live long in the memory for its dramatic shifts in momentum and the significant impact of the substitutes.
