Boston United 1-3 Yeovil Town

A dramatic encounter unfolded at The Jakemans Community Stadium, where Yeovil Town secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory over ten-man Boston United in a National League clash. The Glovers drew first blood in the 7th minute, Brett McGavin opening the scoring. The Pilgrims, however, responded swiftly, levelling the score just eight minutes later through Samuel Osborne, courtesy of a Tony Weston assist.

The match took a decisive turn in the 17th minute when Boston’s Jordan Richards was shown a straight red card for violent conduct, reducing the home side to ten men. Yeovil capitalised on their numerical advantage just before half-time, with McGavin netting his second of the match, assisted by Raphael Araoye. Moments before the break, Araoye, having set up the goal, was then substituted for Samuel Pearson.

The second half witnessed a flurry of substitutions. Boston United replaced goalscorer Osborne with Dylan Hill and assist provider Weston with Oluwalopemiwa Aderoju. Yeovil introduced Jordan Young in place of Josh Sims. The changes paid immediate dividends for the visitors, as Young marked his arrival with a goal shortly after coming on, assisted by Pearson.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Boston United battled valiantly, but their efforts were thwarted by a resolute Yeovil defence. Late in the game, tensions flared again as Yeovil’s Jake Wannell, already on a yellow card, received a second booking, reducing the visitors to ten men as well. The final whistle confirmed a 3-1 victory for Yeovil Town.

The win sees Yeovil Town climb to 10th in the National League table with nine points, while Boston United remain in 23rd place with four points, renewing a league rivalry dormant for the past three seasons.
