Barnet 7-0 Tamworth

Barnet produced a scintillating display of attacking football at The Hive Stadium, routing Tamworth 7-0 in a one-sided National League encounter. The Bees overwhelmed the Lambs from the outset, establishing a commanding lead in the first half and showing no mercy after the break.

The rout began in the 7th minute when Zak Brunt finished off a slick move involving Harry Chapman to give Barnet the early advantage. Barnet’s relentless pressure continued to build, culminating in a second goal in the 27th minute. Ryan Glover showcased his individual brilliance, weaving through the Tamworth defence to double the Bees’ lead. Brunt then added his second, and Barnet’s third, just six minutes later, expertly converting a chance created by Callum Stead. The 3-0 half-time scoreline only hinted at Barnet’s complete dominance.

The second half brought no respite for the beleaguered visitors. Just four minutes after the restart, Brunt completed his hat-trick, calmly dispatching a penalty to make it 4-0. The introduction of Mark Shelton at half-time further strengthened Barnet’s midfield, and the substitute made an immediate impact. In the 60th minute, Shelton extended the lead, capitalising on another assist from the impressive Glover, who was proving a constant menace to the Tamworth defence. Two minutes later, Glover provided his third assist of the afternoon, setting up Stead to make it 6-0. The onslaught continued, and in the 76th minute, Chapman capped off a superb team performance with a well-taken goal, assisted by substitute Idris Kanu.

Tamworth’s misery was compounded by a yellow card for Tom Tonks, who was later substituted. Despite a flurry of substitutions from both sides in the latter stages, the result was beyond doubt. Barnet’s tactical changes, particularly the introduction of Shelton, paid dividends, while Tamworth struggled to stem the tide of the Bees’ relentless attack.

The emphatic victory propels Barnet up to 3rd place in the National League table, with 12 points from their opening six games. Tamworth, meanwhile, remain in 21st place with 5 points. This heavy defeat will undoubtedly be a difficult one for the Lambs to forget.
