A seven-goal thriller unfolded at the EBB Stadium, where Aldershot Town edged out Maidenhead United 4-3 in a pulsating National League encounter. The match was a relentless back-and-forth affair, with both sides trading blows throughout.
The hosts drew first blood just three minutes in, James Henry calmly slotting home to give Aldershot the early advantage. However, their lead was short-lived. Maidenhead responded swiftly, Tristan Abrahams levelling the score in the 11th minute, capitalising on a Reece Smith assist. The remainder of the first half saw both sides create chances, but neither could find the decisive breakthrough, leaving the score level at 1-1 at the interval. Aldershot’s Rollin Menayese picked up a yellow card during the first-half action.
The second half exploded into life just before the hour mark. In the 57th minute, Oliver Scott restored Aldershot’s lead, finishing off a well-worked move involving an assist from Kai Corbett. Maidenhead, however, refused to be cowed. Barely two minutes later, Abrahams bagged his brace, assisted by Kevin Lokko, to bring the scores level once more at 2-2.
The frenetic pace continued. Corbett, having provided the assist for Scott’s goal, then got on the scoresheet himself in the 62nd minute, putting Aldershot back in front. The drama continued to unfold as Hady Ghandour extended the Shots’ lead to 4-2 in the 72nd minute, courtesy of a pinpoint assist from Henry.
Maidenhead weren’t finished yet. Lokko pulled one back for the visitors in the 78th minute, assisted by Abrahams, setting up a nervy finish. Despite a late surge and throwing everything forward, Maidenhead couldn’t find the equaliser, and Aldershot held on for a crucial three points. Both sides made a number of substitutions, including some of the goalscorers and assist providers, reflecting the demanding nature of the contest.
The victory sees Aldershot climb to sixth in the table with 10 points, while Maidenhead sit in 22nd with 4 points, having won just one of their previous five encounters against Aldershot.
