Tamworth 3-2 Aldershot Town

A pulsating National League encounter at the Lamb Ground saw Tamworth hold on for a thrilling 3-2 victory against Aldershot Town. The match was a captivating end-to-end affair, featuring five goals, defensive vulnerabilities on both sides, and a nail-biting finish.

The hosts struck first in the 8th minute. Kyle Finn’s deft pass found Jordan Cullinane-Liburd, who coolly slotted the ball home to give Tamworth an early advantage. Aldershot Town, however, responded swiftly, levelling the scores in the 32nd minute. Dejan Tetek’s incisive through ball released Jack Barham, who finished with aplomb. The remainder of the first half was an open contest, with both sides creating opportunities but failing to capitalise, leaving the scoreline level at the break.

The second half exploded into life just five minutes after the restart. Nathan Tshikuna’s delivery found Chris Wreh, who exploited some slack defending to fire home from close range, restoring Tamworth’s lead. Tamworth’s ascendency continued, and in the 55th minute, Tshikuna turned goalscorer. A well-placed pass from George Morrison allowed Tshikuna to apply a clinical finish, extending the home side’s lead to 3-1. Two goals down, Aldershot Town rallied, pushing men forward and prompting a series of substitutions from both managers as the game became increasingly stretched. Deep into stoppage time, substitute James Henry notched a goal for Aldershot, setting up a tense finale. Despite a late surge and a frantic search for an equaliser, Aldershot Town were unable to breach the Tamworth defence again, and the hosts secured a valuable three points.

The victory lifts Tamworth to 19th in the National League table with five points, while Aldershot Town remain in 11th place with seven points, having not faced each other in the league for the previous three seasons.
