Aldershot Town 4-1 Oldham Athletic

Aldershot Town delivered a convincing 4-1 victory over Oldham Athletic at The EBB Stadium. While the match may have begun with both sides feeling each other out, Aldershot steadily gained the upper hand during the first half. Their increasing pressure paid off in the 38th minute when James Henry gave the Shots a 1-0 lead.

The second half saw a flurry of goals. Henry struck again in the 58th minute, assisted by Hady Ghandour, making it 2-0 to Aldershot. Oldham briefly rallied two minutes later when Reagan Ogle pulled a goal back for the visitors, making the score 2-1. However, any hopes of a comeback were swiftly dashed. Substitute Ashley Akpan, brought on just minutes earlier, provided the assist for Tyler Frost to restore Aldershot’s two-goal advantage in the 68th minute.

Oldham’s attempts to get back into the game in the closing stages left them exposed at the back. In the 94th minute, deep into stoppage time, Aldershot were awarded a penalty, which Theo Widdrington converted to seal a resounding 4-1 win. Oldham players Tom Conlon, Christian Maghoma (Aldershot), and Reagan Ogle picked up yellow cards for fouls. Both teams made a number of substitutions in the second half.

The result leaves both Aldershot and Oldham with seven points from four matches. Last season’s encounters saw Oldham win 5-1 at home and Aldershot win 2-0 away.
