The home side, managed by Adam Hinshelwood, aimed to secure their first win of the season in front of a crowd of 3,820 spectators. As the match progressed, the intensity increased, and the second half saw a flurry of activity. In the 51st minute, Cameron John of York City was given a yellow card for a foul. This set the stage for the first goal of the match, which came in the 54th minute when Ollie Pearce of York City scored a penalty, putting his team 1-0 ahead. The penalty was awarded after a foul in the box, which also led to Jordan Cullinane-Liburd of Tamworth receiving a yellow card in the same minute.

The momentum shifted firmly in York City’s favour, and just two minutes later, in the 56th minute, Billy Chadwick scored another goal for York City, assisted by Ricky Aguiar, doubling the lead to 2-0.

Further substitutions were made by both teams, including York City bringing on Ashley Nathaniel-George for Tyrese Sinclair in the 73rd minute and Tamworth making multiple changes in the 80th and 82nd minutes.

Despite the efforts of Tamworth to reduce the deficit, York City’s defence held firm. In the closing stages, York City made further tactical substitutions, including bringing on Patrick McLaughlin and Marvin Armstrong in the 86th minute, replacing Alex Hunt and Ollie Pearce, respectively.
