Hartlepool United v Tamworth

The Prestige Group Stadium is set for a fascinating National League clash as Hartlepool United face Tamworth. With both teams closely matched in the league table, the stakes are high in what is anticipated to be a hard-fought contest.

Hartlepool come into this fixture buoyed by a recent victory, having also demonstrated their attacking capabilities by scoring in their last match. Tamworth, however, arrive with greater momentum, currently enjoying a three-game unbeaten run, finding the net in each of those encounters.

Historical precedent points to a balanced rivalry. In their two meetings over the past three seasons, Hartlepool have secured one win, with the other match ending all square. Last season witnessed a narrow 1-0 away victory for Hartlepool, sealed by a late Joe Grey goal. Their other meeting resulted in a 2-2 draw, with Reyes Cleary and Emmanuel Dieseruvwe on the scoresheet for Hartlepool, and Jordan Ponticelli and Beck-Ray Enoru replying for Tamworth.

In the league standings, Hartlepool United occupy 8th place with 17 points from 11 games, their +6 goal difference reflecting a solid defence, having conceded just 4 goals while scoring 10. Tamworth are hot on their heels in 9th, also with 17 points from 11 games, but a -2 goal difference indicates defensive vulnerabilities, having scored 13 but conceded 15.

A win would provide a considerable lift for either side, improving their league position and providing valuable impetus. For Hartlepool, it would reinforce their credentials as serious playoff contenders. For Tamworth, it would represent a significant victory against a direct competitor. A draw, while perhaps not the desired outcome for either team, would see them remain closely matched in this highly competitive National League season.

Right, let’s have a butcher’s at Hartlepool versus Tamworth. The Pools are favourites at evens, and while they’re decent at home, I’m not convinced that price reflects the value. Tamworth are no mugs, sitting right behind them in the league.

TopB1ns Edge is backing a Hartlepool win, but I’m not entirely sold given Tamworth’s recent form. Where I reckon the real value lies is in the goals market. The bookies are offering 4/5 for over 2.5 goals, and that looks tasty. TopB1ns Edge agrees, predicting overs all the way up to 2.5. However, it diverges after that, suggesting under 3.5, 4.5, 5.5 and 6.5.

BTTS is priced at 67/100 for yes, and 11/10 for no. TopB1ns Edge is leaning towards “no” on BTTS. Given that Hartlepool have been pretty tight at the back, I’m inclined to agree. So, a punt on under 2.5 goals and no BTTS could be the shout here. Worth a quid or two, innit?
