Boston United v Wealdstone

The Jakemans Community Stadium is the venue for a potentially crucial National League encounter as Boston United welcome Wealdstone. Both teams will be eager to secure a positive result, with Boston seeking to halt a worrying slump and Wealdstone aiming to rekindle their earlier momentum.

Boston United are currently enduring a difficult spell, marked by a two-match losing streak, and failing to score in either fixture. This form stands in stark contrast to Wealdstone’s, although they too are smarting from a recent defeat, also drawing a blank in their most recent match.

Previous meetings between these two sides point towards a tightly contested battle. Over the last three seasons, they have met twice, with each team claiming a victory. Last season saw Wealdstone secure a 1-0 victory at home, thanks to an Alex Reid goal. However, Boston United responded emphatically at The Jakemans Community Stadium, claiming a 2-0 win, with Frankie Maguire scoring both goals in the first half.

In the league standings, Wealdstone currently occupy 6th place with 9 points from their opening four matches, having scored 6 goals and conceded 3. Boston United, meanwhile, sit further down the table in 18th position, with 3 points from their first three games. They have scored 3 goals but conceded 5, resulting in a negative goal difference.

A victory for Boston United would not only arrest their losing streak but also provide a significant morale boost and lift them up the league table. For Wealdstone, a win would consolidate their position in the top half and maintain their positive early-season trajectory. A draw would perhaps favour Wealdstone more, allowing them to maintain their distance from Boston, while Boston would likely view it as a missed opportunity to make up ground.

Alright, lads, let’s have a butcher’s at Boston United versus Wealdstone. The bookies have Boston as slight favourites at 7/5, with Wealdstone at 17/10. A draw’s going for 9/4.

Now, TopB1ns Edge fancies Boston to nick this one. Given the Pilgrims’ home advantage and Wealdstone’s recent blip, that’s not a bad shout. The model’s also leaning towards “no” on BTTS, which at evens looks a decent punt. Both sides have struggled for goals recently.

On the Over/Under front, TopB1ns Edge is all over the shop, predicting overs for 0.5, 1.5, and 2.5 goals, but unders for everything above that. The unders on 3.5 at 3/10 looks a bit stingy for my liking. However, with the model predicting a 2-0 win for Boston, the unders on 4.5 at 11/10 might be worth a punt.
